Recent ActivityInstructor: Mr. Patrick Young
The McDowell High School Band Program is in its 13th year under the direction of Mr. Patrick Young. He is a 1990 graduate of McDowell High. He attended Brevard College and UNC-Greensboro, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Music Education. He is married to Jill Thompson Young, who is the music specialist at Old Fort Elementary. Their son, Daniel Vance Young is 2 and loves to visit during Daddy's rehearsals.
Class Announcements COVERED DISH/POTLUCK DINNERWe would like to honor our students and their families with a covered dish/potluck dinner on Sunday, November 22. This will be right after the Marion Christmas Parade is finished. We have reserved the fellowship hall at First United Methodist Church, which is just across the street from Marion Elementary School, and is only a few blocks away from the parade route. We’d like all the students and their immediate families to join us as soon as the parade is over. Parents may begin arriving at the church by 2:00 and bring food. If you would like to come as soon as the band passes by on main street, that would be fine. We want to start at 4:00 or as soon as the parade is over.
To keep things organized, we’re asking you to bring items according to last name. Please feel free to supplement your requested item with additional things.
If your student’s last name begins with:
A-F- bring a dessert
G-J-bring a couple of drinks
K-P-bring a main course
R-T-bring a side dish
W-Z-bring cups/plates/napkins/forks
DISTRICT CLINIC AUDITION INFOAuditions for the NW District Bandmasters Clinic will be held Jan 23, 2010 at Central Davidson High School.
